Start Menu for Windows 8 — 2012-2013

Microsoft released Windows 8 on August 1, 2012. Earlier that year we learned that they would be removing the iconic Start Menu. Smart people at SweetLabs had the idea to create our own. If launched at the right time, we could replace this missing UI and grow the Pokki install base at the same time.

People DID have problems using Windows 8 without the Start Menu, leading to millions of people installing our replacement. In the years following, our Start Menu was preloaded and shipped globally by huge PC manufacturers such as Lenovo, Dell, Acer and Toshiba.
